Newcastle Treatment & Recovery (NTaR) is multi agency team delivering drug and alcohol treatment for the residents of Newcastle. We pride ourselves on being safe, inventive, creative and have the needs of the community and service users at the heart of what we do. The successful post holder will match our ambition and commitment to provide the highest standards of service quality and performance within this partnership.
About the role
We are currently recruiting a Probation & Court Link Recovery Coordinator to join our Criminal Justice Team at Newcastle Treatment & Recovery. Our team provides support for individuals who are experiencing problematic substance use. Our aim is to strengthen our existing strong Criminal Justice pathways into treatment for people effected by opiate, non-opiate and alcohol use. As part of the role, you will be working with a caseload of service users who are involved in the Criminal Justice System, providing specialist, tailored support to enable service users to make positive changes to their lives, working collaboratively alongside external agencies including Probation, Prison and Court. You will…
1. Be the main point of contact for Probation partners, spending some of the week co-located in Probation Services or other Criminal Justice satellite sites to ensure that partnership working is effective and to give the best possible care to complex individuals.
2. Provide targeted support for service users, from brief interventions through to structured treatment, ensuring that every recovery journey is tailored to individual priorities.
3. Be an integral member of our dynamic treatment teams, working closely with team leaders and partners developing and delivering tailored support including recovery planning and case management to enable service users to make positive changes across all stages of their recovery journey.
4. Offer tailored guidance in minimising harmful behaviour and support those involved within the Criminal Justice System into continued engagement with the service should they need more substantial support.
5. Identify and prevent potential harm to service users and others by following local and organisational safeguarding guidelines, including referral to and engagement with relevant safeguarding authorities.
6. Develop and deliver quality programs and packages of work / psychosocial interventions that meet local need.
7. Support delivery of key service functions through actively participating in drug screening, duty work, access to BBV testing and immunisation service provision, prescription management, community needle exchange services and the ongoing delivery of appropriate, tailored alcohol and drug harm reduction interventions.
8. Take a ‘whole person’ holistic approach, ensuring that every service user’s package of care encompasses all areas of their wellbeing, not just their substance use, to achieve the best possible outcomes for every person.
9. Promote visible recovery across the service and ensure peer support opportunities are relevant and accessible for all service users.
