Associate Director - Energy Planning

Penguin Recruitment is pleased to support a leading UK Independent Infrastructure and Property Consultancy specialising in Environmental, Planning, and Sustainability.
As an Associate Director in the Infrastructure Projects and Programmes team, you'll play a central role in shaping energy projects with responsibilities including project delivery, business development, and strategic growth in the energy sector.
You will guide planning and consent processes (DCOs, EIAs, and more), support key infrastructure initiatives, and build lasting client relationships. The role requires sound judgment, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple high-profile projects from inception to completion. Experience across other infrastructure sectors is welcome but not required.
We're looking for someone who thrives in dynamic, complex environments, can lead teams, influence outcomes, and contribute to long-term strategy—particularly in advancing the energy agenda.
What you'll bring:
1. A minimum of 10 years' relevant experience, including energy planning.
2. Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and manage clients.
3. In-depth understanding of planning and consent processes in the energy sector.
4. Degree qualification; chartered or working towards chartership.
