Meraki Talent’s client is currently looking to hire a Head of Scientific Research to join their business on a permanent basis. Our client is a leading independent centre of scientific excellent focussed on occupational and environmental health. The organisation delivers research, consultancy and policy shaping insights that protect worker health, improve workplace environments and support evidence-based research across the UK and Internationally.
As Head of Scientific Research, you will provide strategic, scientific and operational leadership of the firms research function. You will drive innovation, secure research funding, oversee multi-disciplinary research programmes and bring alignment and integration between commercial objectives and scientific services.
Key outcomes:
* Development and implementation of the firm’s research strategy
* Identify emerging scientific, regulatory and societal trends to position the firm at the forefront of occupational and environment health
* Build and maintain strategic partnerships with universities, government bodies, industry and international agencies
* Lead a portfolio of research programmes across occupational hygiene, exposure science, epidemiology, toxicology, human factors, behavioural insights and environmental health
* Ensure scientific excellence, methodological rigour and ethical compliance
* Lead the development of competitive research proposals to UKRI, NIHR, HSE and EU Programmes, charities and industry partners
* Manage, mentor and develop a team of researchers and technical specialists
* Act as a senior spokesperson for the organisation
* Enable or have had published high quality peer reviewed research
For this role my client is applicants who meet these following requirements:
* Proven track record of leading research programmes – ideally in occupational hygiene, exposure science, epidemiology, toxicology, environmental health, human factors or a related field
* Track record of securing competitive research funding
* Experience of managing scientific teams
* PhD in a scientific discipline (or equivalent research experience)
* Strategic thinker and people manager/leader
