Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
* HNC or Degree in a relevant Estates discipline.
* Membership of a relevant professional body.
* Evidence of continuing learning / development.
* Specialist knowledge acquired through courses & experience to Masters level or equivalent
Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Knowledge of technical documents (HTMs), British standards, regulations, legislation and codes and how they should be used in the undertaking of projects and operational services.
Training and Experience
Essential criteria
* Experience of working with a range of systems i.e. fire Systems, electrical installations, medical gases, HVAC
* Understanding of ; Building Regulations ,Nurse call systems ,Air conditioning Plant,Pressure Systems Water, Regulations,Electrical Distribution ,Standby Generators,Fire Alarm Systems,Building Management Systems
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
* Experience of contract management
* Experience of budget holding and management and understanding of invoice authorisation processes.
Desirable criteria
* Experience of working within an operational NHS estates team.
* Experience of working with PFI contracts.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Essential criteria
* Knowledge of technical documents (HTMs), British standards, regulations, legislation and codes and how they should be used in the undertaking of projects and operational services.
* Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people and professionals at all levels of the organisation including for example: senior managers, contractors, suppliers, statutory agencies and utility companies.
* Excellent verbal communication skills
* Ability to understand and utilise complex information - e.g. contracts / building legislation / guidance documents.
* Ability to present information in a clear and understandable format and influence decision making on changes to policy and practice based on specialist knowledge.
* Ability to prioritise effectively to meet deadlines
* Good working knowledge of IT packages including Word, Excel, Microsoft Office
* Good literacy and numeracy standards
* Ability to concentrate and deal with unpredictable working practices to ensure analyse of information and development of solutions to overcome problems or manage situations effectively
Desirable criteria
* Proven project management experience and able to demonstrate planning and management of complex schemes through to delivery in line with specification, on time, to budget and in accordance with industry guidance and best practice
