Job Title: Incident Governance Manager

Salary: £45,200 depending on skills and experience
About the role:
As an Incident Governance Manager, you will be a confident, self‑motivated professional, able to work on your own initiative while delivering a consistently high standard of service. You will be comfortable with problem‐solving under pressure, making sound decisions in fast‑paced environments, and identifying innovative solutions to overcome challenges. This is a rewarding role, offering clear visibility of the improvements you and your team implement and the positive, tangible impact those improvements have on the organisation and our customers.
You will lead a team of four Incident Advisors, bringing a strong passion for continuous improvement and taking full ownership of Southern Water’s Incident Management processes and procedures. You will ensure these are fit for purpose, consistently applied, and continually enhanced, embedding best practice across the wider business.
What you will be responsible for:
The role includes managing the Incident Management framework to ensure organisational readiness to respond effectively to incidents. You will proactively identify incident risks, drive mitigation actions, and ensure appropriate contractual arrangements are in place to strengthen and enhance our incident response capability.
Strong stakeholder engagement is central to this role. With an engaging communication style and excellent relationship‑building skills, you will maintain effective working relationships with regulators and key stakeholders – internal and external. You will actively represent Southern Water within the industry and other stakeholders, specifically in relation to incident response. By doing so, you will help bring external best practice and learning back into the organisation to continuously improve our approach to incident response and preparedness.
What you’ll bring to the role:

You may come from an emergency services background, providing a strong understanding of the importance of effective incident response, or from a Health and Safety background, with a solid appreciation of procedures, governance, and compliance. Either background would be well suited to this role.
