IFAW has established an Academy of Rescue and Conservation (ARC). The ARC serves as a global resource, providing online, in-person, and hybrid training courses and curricula in best practices in animal rescue. We are seeking a motivated Education Manager (EM) to work with the ARC Director and Animal Rescue subject matter experts to assist with the development and management of the ARC. This EM position is based out of IFAW’s International Operations Center in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts. The ARC project and EM position are currently funded for 3 years with the intent for both to become permanent pending funding and proof of concept.
The Education Manager is responsible for managing the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of all educational and training programs presented by the Academy of Rescue and Conservation under the supervision of the Director. The Education Manager (EM) will assist in the development and delivery of web-based, hybrid, and face-to-face educational and training programs and will ensure that all educational and training programs presented are aligned with the mission and goals of IFAW and the Academy of Rescue and Conservation. The EM will work closely with the Director of the Academy of Rescue and Conservation and will oversee practical day-to-day operations of the Academy of Rescue and Conservation, including site management, accreditation, scheduling and logistics, and the continuous self-evaluation process.
Role and Responsibilities
* Assist in the development, preparation, organization, and evaluation of curricula for all ARC educational and training programs
* Ensure that the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of all educational and training programs presented are aligned with the mission and goals of IFAW and the Academy of Rescue and Conservation
* Coordinate implementation of strategic plan, curricular mapping, and course evaluation
* Supervise administration and assessment of the internal monitoring and evaluation process to ensure appropriate standards and mission goals are met
* Assist with establishment and maintenance of accreditation standards
* Supervise instructional staff to ensure that curricula are taught according to the best practices and in accordance with IFAW and ARC standards and mission
* Conduct presentation of course and training material as needed and appropriate
* Facilitate training of instructional staff and IFAW subject matter experts on educational techniques (including the most current practices for teaching non-traditional and/or international learners), materials, and technological adjuncts
* Provide instructional staff with annual training to review updates and changes in education programs
* Evaluate student feedback / pre-post assessment data to make appropriate changes to curricula and continually improve results
* Provide educational and technical support for students, instructors, and ARC staff as required
* Coordinate and implement the scheduling of ARC curriculum, including arranging for classroom or facility use as necessary
* Assist in database development and the maintenance and analysis of student and course data
* Assist in the development of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
* Assist the Director of the Academy of Rescue and Conservation in pursuing grants related to educational and instructional programs
* Contribute to the overall success of the ARC and IFAW by performing all other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
* BS/BA degree in education, educational leadership, educational administration or a related field preferred. Master’s degree ideal.
* At least three years of experience working in a leadership position at an educational institution.
* At least three years of teaching experience, particularly online teaching in a higher education setting.
* At least three years of experience managing personnel
* Experience developing and delivering training or educational content to internal and external audiences
* Experience in animal welfare, rescue, or conservation field preferred
* Ability to produce effectively and accurately while managing multiple priorities and often competing deadlines.
* Must possess excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail.
* Ability to think critically and proactively respond to work requests, as well as demonstrate problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teams across cultures and multiple time zones to achieve stated goals. Requires effective communication, listening, presentation and training skills.
* Proficient with the Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Word) and database management, with advanced experience with Excel.
* Experience with online learning systems a plus
* International experience preferred. Occasional travel may be required.
* Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Foreign language capabilities a plus.
