This vital role supports the delivery of nutritious, high-quality meals to our residents, many of whom have specific dietary requirements and nutritional needs. As a Kitchen Assistant in the care sector, you will play an essential part in enhancing the wellbeing and quality of life of our residents through the provision of excellent food service. You will work as part of a committed kitchen team, ensuring that every meal served meets the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and presentation. Key Responsibilities Food Preparation and Service Assist in the preparation of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks for residents, following established menus and recipes Prepare special dietary meals including pureed, soft, diabetic-friendly, and allergen-free options as required Support the chef in cooking activities, including vegetable preparation, basic cooking tasks, and meal assembly Ensure all food is prepared and served at the correct temperature and within appropriate timeframes Assist with plating and presentation of meals to ensure they are appetizing and appealing to residents Help with the preparation of modified texture foods for residents with swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) Support meal service to residents in dining rooms and, when necessary, assist with delivering meals to residents in their rooms Food Hygiene and Safety Maintain exemplary standards of food hygiene in accordance with Food Safety Regulations and care sector requirements Follow all HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) procedures and maintain accurate records Monitor and record food temperatures during storage, preparation, and service Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and rotation to minimize waste and prevent contamination Maintain personal hygiene IND2
