We are looking for a dedicated Early Years Practitioner to join our team at Heron House Early Years Crookston. This role will support children aged 0–5 years, providing high-quality care and education in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children ages 0-5 years, a passion for early years education, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Duties
* Support and care for children aged 0–5, ensuring their wellbeing, safety, and development
* Plan and deliver engaging activities that promote learning through play, creativity, and outdoor experiences
* Observe, assess, and record children's progress, contributing to individual development plans
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a positive and supportive learning environment
* Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing updates on their children's progress
* Ensure compliance with the setting's policies, procedures, and health and safety standards
* Foster a love of exploration, creativity, and outdoor learning in all children
* Support the continuous improvement of the nursery through sharing ideas and participating in initiatives
Skills and Qualities
* Experience working with children aged 0–5, particularly under 3, is essential
* Knowledge of early years principles and child development
* Patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach to care
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work well as part of a team and also use own initiative
* Creativity and passion for engaging children in play-based learning
* Commitment to promoting outdoor learning and exploration
* Proactive, reliable, and flexible
