Job Summary:
As the Service Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the afternoon and evening shift to ensure smooth and efficient warehouse operations. Your primary focus will be on managing end-of-day processes, driving cost efficiency, maximising productivity, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the shift meets its performance targets and prepares the operation for the next day.
Key Responsibilities:
* Warehouse Operations Management: Oversee all warehouse activities during the shift, ensuring the efficient processing of inbound and outbound parcels. Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure timely and accurate sorting, scanning, and loading of parcels, particularly focusing on the end-of-day dispatches. Manage inventory levels, ensuring that stock is stored correctly and efficiently to minimise waste and damage.
* Driver Management: Supervise and coordinate drivers’ activities during the shift, ensuring that all delivery vehicles are loaded and dispatched on time for next-day deliveries. Monitor drivers’ adherence to company policies and safety regulations, especially during evening operations. Conduct regular briefings and debriefings with drivers to address any operational issues or concerns. Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives within warehouse operations, including optimising resource allocation, reducing waste, and improving workflow efficiency. Monitor and manage shift labour costs, ensuring that staffing levels are aligned with workload demands, especially during peak evening hours. Work closely with the Operations Manager to track and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cost efficiency.
* Productivity Enhancement: Drive productivity improvements within the warehouse by optimising processes, reducing bottlenecks, and utilising technology effectively. Set and monitor productivity targets for warehouse staff, providing coaching and support to meet or exceed these targets. Analyse shift performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
* Compliance and Safety: Ensure all warehouse operations comply with company policies, industry regulations, and health and safety standards. Conduct regular safety audits and briefings to maintain a safe working environment, especially during evening and night operations. Address any safety incidents or compliance issues promptly and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
* Team Leadership and Development: Lead, motivate, and develop the shift team, fostering a positive and productive working environment. Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback and coaching to team members. Identify training needs and coordinate training sessions to enhance team skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience in a warehouse or logistics management role, preferably within the parcel delivery industry.
* Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in managing shift operations.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
* Experience in driving cost efficiency and productivity improvements within a warehouse environment.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with warehouse staff, drivers, and internal teams.
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to warehouse operations.
* Experience of route planning.
Working Conditions:
* Shift-based work, primarily focused on afternoons and evenings, including weekends as required.
* Fast-paced and dynamic warehouse environment with a focus on meeting tight end-of-day deadlines.
* Physical presence in the warehouse during the shift is required to manage operations effectively.
