Assistant Team Manager – Learning Disabilities & TransitionsLocation: Tameside CouncilContract: Full-time | 36 hours per week | Hybrid (up to 2 days WFH – including Wednesdays)DescriptionTameside Council is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Assistant Team Manager to join our Learning Disabilities and Autism (LD&A) Team, supporting young people through key transitions into adulthood. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and deliver person-centred, legally compliant, and high-impact social care services.If you’re driven by quality, collaboration, and making a lasting difference to people’s lives, we’d love to hear from you.Responsibilities
* Support the Team Manager in the day-to-day leadership, development and supervision of the LD & Transitions team.
* Oversee the transition planning process for young people with LD and/or Autism, ensuring timely and effective support.
* Supervise and support social workers, including authorising care and support plans.
* Promote best practice in line with legal frameworks and local procedures.
* Lead on quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals, families, and service users to ensure a joined-up approach.
* Ensure effective implementation of safeguarding practices and adherence to the Mental Capacity Act and Care Act.
* Support recruitment, induction, and continuous development of team members.
* Manage team resources and contribute to budget planning and monitoring.
* Contribute to service development and strategic planning through data and feedback.
Requirements
* Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.
* Significant experience working within Adult Social Care, particularly with Learning Disabilities, Autism and Transitions.
* Proven experience of supervising staff and authorising support plans.
* Strong understanding of statutory responsibilities, legal frameworks, and safeguarding legislation.
* Knowledge of court work and managing complex multi-agency cases.
