Experienced Support Workers Wanted – Complex Needs & Behaviour Support CFT Care Ltd, part of the Optimo Care Group, is recruiting experienced Complex Care Support Workers to join our specialist team in Colchester. This is not a standard care role. We are looking for confident, resilient and experienced staff who are comfortable supporting individuals with complex behavioural needs, learning disabilities, autism, and mental health conditions. Many of the individuals we support may lack capacity to make safe decisions, may struggle with emotional regulation, and may display behaviours that challenge services. Your role will be to provide consistent, structured, person-centred support that promotes stability, safety, and independence. This role is ideal for support workers who have experience in: Complex supported living Behaviour support services Mental health or forensic services Autism specialist services Learning disability services What You’ll Be Doing Supporting Complex Needs You will support individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs who require high levels of structured support. This includes: Supporting individuals who may display behaviours that challenge Recognising behavioural triggers and using proactive de-escalation strategies Implementing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans Maintaining a calm, structured and therapeutic environment Person-Centred Support You will provide high quality, person-centred support that focuses on: Promoting independence Maintaining dignity and respect Supporting individuals who may lack capacity Encouraging positive routines and stability Daily Living Support Supporting individuals with: Personal care Medication administration Meal preparation Household tasks Budgeting and life skills Community & Social Inclusion You will support individuals to safely access the community including: Activities and hobbies Appointments Social engagement Health services when required Essential Experience (Applicants Without This May Not Be Considered) To ensure safe support for the individuals we work with, applicants must have experience in complex care environments. You must have experience supporting individuals with at least one of the following: ✔ Learning Disabilities ✔ Autism Spectrum Conditions ✔ Mental Health Needs ✔ Behaviours that Challenge ✔ Individuals who lack capacity You should also demonstrate: Confidence working in highly complex support environments Ability to remain calm and professional during challenging situations Strong understanding of person-centred care Good communication and teamwork skills Ability to follow care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support plans Experience with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Desirable Skills These are highly beneficial but not essential: Knowledge of trauma-informed care NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care Experience supporting individuals with complex behavioural needs Full UK Driving Licence What We Offer Joining CFT Care Ltd means becoming part of a supportive and professional team that values staff and invests in their development.
