The role
As a Buyer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for tactical sourcing activity and the placement of purchase orders for vehicle related & MRO spares and repairs to enable and deliver requirements between our Through Life Equipment Support (TLES) Business Unit and the customer.
Day-to-day, you’ll be engaging with the engineering team and Approved Supplier List (AVL) to ensure the timely purchase of consumables and repairable in accordance with operational demands.
1. Create and issue RFQ’s and PO’s in accordance with system generated demand and Strategic Sourcing Plan
2. Reporting on PO activity, issues / opportunities identified and supplier performance
3. Maintenance of Purchasing documents and records, both hard-copy and electronic
4. Support supplier engagement on dispute resolution
5. Responsible for ensuring procurement activity is aligned with strategic sourcing and contracting strategies whilst optimising savings for the customer and increased value contribution for Babcock
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Buyer
6. The ability to generate RFQ and PO documents using an ERP system
7. Knowledge of or working with ‘statements of work’ and repairs
8. Experience of sub-contracting for engineering services is highly desirable
9. Experience with SAP ERP system or similar is desirable
10. Understanding of e-Procurement tools and platforms is desirable
11. Experience of detailed quotation analysis and developing / challenging pricing with suppliers where appropriate
Qualifications for the Buyer
12. CIPS and/or equivalent Supply Chain and Procurement degree is desirable
