Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing technical team within the Building Services sector.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will be responsible for producing comprehensive mechanical design packages that enable efficient installation and reliable mechanical performance on project delivery. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with project and site teams to translate technical requirements into accurate, buildable mechanical designs.
Key Responsibilities
As the appointed Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:

Produce coordinated mechanical design drawings and detailed layouts for commercial mechanical systems, including plant, pipework, and plant room arrangements
*
Develop and maintain design documentation, specifications, and schedules suitable for construction use
*
Carry out mechanical calculations, equipment selection and sizing to ensure designs meet performance criteria
*
Collaborate with senior engineers, project managers and other disciplines to ensure fully coordinated design outcomes
*
Ensure all mechanical design work complies with relevant standards, regulations, and technical requirements
*
Provide design support and technical guidance through project stages up to handover
*
Identify and resolve design issues early, advising on value engineering opportunities and constructability improvements
*
Maintain high standards of design quality, accuracy and review documentation before issue
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be tasked with ensuring the integrity and constructability of mechanical services designs while supporting project delivery teams with practical and technically robust solutions.
Skills & Experience
To be successful as a Mechanical Design Engineer, candidates should demonstrate:

Proven experience in mechanical design within the building services sector or comparable engineering environment
*
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, fluid dynamics, HVAC principles, and associated plant equipment
*
Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP or equivalent platforms
*
The ability to produce technically accurate drawings and detailed design packages
*
Knowledge of mechanical design standards, compliance requirements and good engineering practice
*
Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills
*
Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or similar) in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Design
*
Experience in commercial building services design is highly advantageous
