Role Description
This is a full-time, hybrid role for an Automation Engineer at Expert Aviation Technologies. The candidate will be responsible for PLC Development, Automation control system engineering, and Commissioning both in the UK and Globally.
The day-to-day tasks include designing, developing, and maintaining automated systems, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, whilst collaborating with cross-functional teams to streamline processes. This role is located in Widnes with flexibility for regular global travel.
Responsibilities:
* Design and develop comprehensive PLC-controlled baggage handling systems, including hardware selection, plc programming, and integration.
* Using EPLAN to draw electrical circuits for the manufacturing team.
* Configure and program managed switches, including VLAN setup, port access control, security patching, redundancy implementation, and performance monitoring.
* Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues with integrated systems promptly and systematically.
* Provide technical support and assistance to field engineers during system installation and commissioning.
* Document and maintain detailed records of PLC programs and system configurations.
* Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in PLC programming and automation.
Qualifications:
* Experienced on Siemens products and toolsets.
* Experienced on E-Plan products.
* Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Experience in electrical engineering, and automation.
* Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems and technologies.
* Ability to analyze and interpret technical documents and diagrams.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
* Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field is preferred.
* 5+ years relevant industry experience would be beneficial.
