Main duties of the job
1. To assist the registered nurse in the delivery of high quality and person-centred care.
2. To provide fundamental nursing care, e.g., assistance with personal hygiene, eating and drinking, mobility needs, washing under direct or indirect supervision.
3. To assist consultant with patient care during consultations.
4. To carry out limited clinical observations and undertake a range of activities under direct or indirect supervision by a registered nurse, having been assessed as competent in the activities required.
5. To maintain high clinical standards
6. To help maintain a clean and safe ward environment.
7. To contribute towards the department and organisation in the provision of a safe and caring environment.
8. The post holder may be required to work anywhere within the Trust.
Key working relationships include all members of the multi-professional team, including nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and relevant support workers

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Desirable criteria
19. Level 2 or Level 3 (NVQ) in health and Social Care or equivalent relevant experience
20. Willing to work towards Level 2 functional skills (Math & English)
21. Care Certificate/working towards
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
22. Experience of working with people, ideally in a front-line customer service role.
Desirable criteria
23. Experience of providing person centred care.

24. An understanding of the importance of patient confidentially and privacy.
25. Recognises how patients and colleagues need to be treated with dignity and respect and can demonstrate these behaviours in their daily work.
26. Good verbal and written English communication skills.

28. A flexible and adaptable approach with the aptitude to work in a busy hospital healthcare setting.
29. Basic knowledge of health and safety with an awareness of the importance of following Trust policies and procedures.

32. Willingness to undertake the mentorship of new Nursing Assistants after 12 months in post.

34. A willingness to provide the highest standards of patient care including personal care.
