South Staffs Water is seeking an experienced Environment Manager to lead our environmental strategy and ensure regulatory compliance across our operations. The Role This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives on collaboration, innovation, and making a tangible impact on the environment and local communities. You will lead the development of our long-term environmental strategy, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes for our environment, our water quality and water resources and our customers. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the delivery of the Water Industry Environment Programme (WINEP), working closely with regulators, stakeholders, and third parties. Drive projects focused on biodiversity net gain, invasive species management, and environmental destination outcomes. Oversee environmental compliance, including monitoring, reporting, investigations, and pollution event response. Maintain and enhance our Environmental Management Systems (EMS). Chair the internal Environmental Working Group, championing sustainability and facilitating cross-departmental dialogue. Lead climate change risk assessments and adaptation reporting. Represent South Staffs Water at industry forums, workshops, and stakeholder events. Promote a strong Health and Safety culture, ensuring all training is current. Strong background in project management and stakeholder engagement. In-depth knowledge of UK environmental legislation and ecological principles. Excellent communication and influencing skills. Self-motivated with the ability to manage a varied workload across multiple sites. Full UK driving license required. Minimum 3 years’ experience in an environmental role.
