Main duties of the job
Asa Ward Clerk, your primary responsibilities will include accurately recordingreal-time admissions, transfers, and discharges on the Trust's PatientAdministration System (PAS). You will also manage patient appointments andrespond to patient enquiries as well as requests from healthcareprofessionals.
Keyduties will also include undertaking essential daily tasks such as orderingequipment, delivering samples to pathology, updating the ward register,managing incoming calls, addressing patient and family enquiries,coordinating patient transport, and supporting the timely discharge ofpatients.
Youwill play a crucial role in supporting the Sister/Charge Nurse and other wardstaff, allowing them to focus more on direct patient care. This will requireeffective liaison with other departments and wards, ensuring smoothcommunication and the seamless flow of information.

Job responsibilities
PRINCIPALDUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Administrative and Clerical Duties
- Record admission, transfer anddischarge activity data onto the Trust PAS system.
- Arrange patients follow-upappointments using the PAS system and order transport for patients whenrequired.
- Record changes to the bed base andinform the relevant corporate team
- Handle telephone calls fromrelatives, hospital staff, public etc, under guidance where necessary fromthe Sister/Charge Nurse, and making calls where appropriate on behalf of wardstaff.
- Ensure that patients medicalrecords (including x-rays) are available on the ward, obtaining these wherenecessary from other departments.
- Transfer pathology and otherreports to patients records, and general collation of records promptly andefficiently, especially on patients discharge.
- Deliver patients mail.
- Order stationary and completerequisition forms under instruction from Sister/Charge Nurse.
- Complete electronic admission/bedsystem as required
- Maintaining records on behalf ofSister/ Charge Nurse.
Assisting to maintain highstandards of care
Assist in the welcome and receptionof patients and visitors into the clinical area
Maintain a safe working environment,reporting incidents, accidents, complaints
