Team Leader – Press Shop
Team Leader Required with good organisational skills in a busy Press shop environment, demonstrating strong communication, a positive proactive attitude, flexibility to respond and display practicality with hands‑on ability. Attention to detail, organisation and planning are essential.
Shift Pattern & Pay
Rotating Early & Back shift, 37.50 hours per week:
Mon‑Thurs: 6am‑14:15
Fri: 6am‑12:30 (5‑day working week)
Mon‑Wed: 14:00‑midnight
Thu: 14:00‑23:30 (4‑day working week)
Rate of pay £17.61 with shift allowance supplement for Early/Back shift.
Equivalent average basic earnings: £36,500 plus overtime. Hourly rate weekly paid.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain Health & Safety and Environmental Standards.
* Ensure team members are aware of the required quality standards.
* Supervise daily operations of the team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
* Motivate and inspire team members, fostering a positive work environment.
* Set clear performance goals aligned with organisational objectives.
* Delegate tasks based on team strengths and skills for optimal distribution.
* Provide training and support to develop team skills and improve performance.
* Monitor performance, track progress, and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
* Act as liaison between the team and upper management, reporting on progress and addressing issues.
* Retain and distribute information to the team.
* Operate Forklift truck when required to meet production targets.
* Participate in root‑cause investigation via 8D methodology.
* Ensure housekeeping requirements are met and encourage continuous improvement.
* Develop and implement cost‑saving ideas.
* Hold briefings with team members as required.
* Use maintenance system to identify tools or assets needing repair/refurbishment.
* Identify and arrange training needs for team members.
* Ensure formal performance reviews are conducted.
* Pass off production runs as required.
* Set up equipment (presses or assembly processes) in line with formal training.
* Operate equipment when necessary to meet customer requirements.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
* Strong leadership and motivation skills.
* Communication skills; monitor performance against output and quality standards.
* Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Good numerical and literacy ability.
* Punctual and good attendance.
* Authority to monitor processes/machines and to close them down if product quality or procedures are non‑compliant.
* Follow defined escalation process and take appropriate action relating to poor quality, cost and delivery performance.
* Represent the company in internal, supplier and customer meetings.
* Valid FLT driving licence.
* Knowledge of company accreditations: IATF16949, ISO9001, ISO14001, SO45001.
* Experience in discipline and grievance procedures.
* Experience in a press shop or assembly environment, including power press and assembly setting.
