This role will be based on the University campus at the Edge Sports Facility.
Are you an organised and proactive individual who enjoys working with children and young people?
The Sport & Physical Activity service is seeking to appoint a Camp Coordinator for our Gryphons Go Summer camps for children aged 5-11 years. Our multi-sports camps utilize our fantastic on-campus facilities at the Edge, offering children the opportunity to participate in various sports including football, racquet sports, climbing, and swimming. The camp activities are delivered by individuals with Level 1 and 2 coaching qualifications in Camp Assistant and Camp Leader roles.
As a Camp Coordinator, you will support the organisation and coordination of the camp during the delivery phase in July/August 2025. This includes working alongside our staff team to understand all policies and processes before the camps commence and assisting with administrative planning and preparation.
During the camps, your responsibilities will include creating registers and activity rotas, signing children in and out, coordinating resources, supervising lunchtime and breaks, escorting children to activities such as swimming and climbing, tidying up between activities, and ensuring the health and safety of all participants at all times. You will also support the Camp Manager and help ensure the camp schedule is followed, maintaining high standards and role modeling excellent behaviour in line with University values. This role provides valuable experience in planning, organisation, engaging children positively, and managing a large customer-facing operation.
The Camp Coordinator will work for approximately 6 weeks, covering training, staff preparation, and camp delivery. Camps run from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, during four weeks of summer break. Staffing ratios and shift times will depend on attendance, but the Coordinator must be available for the entire duration of the camps. Flexibility is required, especially during the lead-up period and camp delivery, as hours may vary.
