Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrically Biased)
Location: Stockport
Salary: £55,000 (with a potential salary increase currently under review with CpI, which, if approved, will be backdated)
Hours: 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off (x7), followed by 18 days off
The Role:
We’re seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer with a strong electrical bias to join a fast-paced manufacturing site in Stockport. You’ll take ownership of both planned and reactive maintenance, with a focus on electrical systems while also applying your mechanical knowledge when required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance on plant machinery to ensure smooth production and minimal downtime.
* Diagnose, repair, and test faults on systems such as 3-phase AC circuits, motors, pumps, fans, and conveyors.
* Work with PLC and SCADA systems for fault finding and supporting process automation.
* Support mechanical tasks such as belt changes, gearbox checks, and routine mechanical inspections as part of a multi-skilled approach.
* Contribute to site upgrades, continuous improvement projects, and planned shutdowns.
* Ensure all work adheres to Health & Safety regulations, including LOTO, permits to work, and risk assessments.
* Collaborate closely with the production team to support site reliability and resolve issues quickly.
* Liaise with contractors and suppliers as needed to complete maintenance and installation work safely and efficiently.
About You:
* Time-served/apprentice-trained electrician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
* Strong electrical fault-finding and maintenance background in a manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial setting (minimum 3 years).
* Comfortable working with DC motors, drives, and control systems.
* Capable of performing basic mechanical maintenance and supporting multi-skilled tasks.
* Familiar with DCS/PLC systems and can perform diagnostics and routine testing.
* Proactive problem-solver with a commitment to continuous improvement and safety.
