Café Casual Recovery Worker Location: Old Moat Garden Centre Working Hours: As and when required, including weekends and bank holidays Contract Type: Permanent Salary: £13.45 per hour About the Role As a Café Casual Worker at The Old Moat Garden Centre and Café, you will support the day-to-day running of a welcoming café environment within a mental health and wellbeing charity, Waythrough. You will work alongside Café Supervisors and team members to deliver excellent customer service, prepare food and drinks, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. The café also plays an important role in supporting individuals in their recovery, offering a positive and inclusive space to build confidence and develop skills. This is a flexible, zero-hours role with shifts available across weekdays, weekends, and bank holidays. What You’ll Do Deliver friendly, welcoming, and efficient customer service Prepare and serve drinks, sandwiches, light meals, and café items Carry out basic food preparation and cooking tasks Operate the till and handle payments accurately Maintain cleanliness across customer areas, kitchen spaces, and equipment Wash dishes and ensure high hygiene standards are met Receive deliveries, manage stock, and keep storage areas organised Work as part of the café team to ensure smooth daily operations Support and engage respectfully with people using the service Follow all health and safety, food hygiene, safeguarding, and organisational policies To Succeed in This Role You will be someone who is approachable, reliable, and enjoys working as part of a team. You’ll take pride in creating a welcoming environment and be comfortable interacting with a wide range of people, including those accessing support services. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work flexibly are key to thriving in this role. You’ll Need To be aged 18 or over A basic understanding of customer service and teamwork Willingness to learn food preparation and café operations Ability to follow hygiene, safety, and safeguarding procedures Good communication skills and a respectful, inclusive approach Flexibility to work varied shifts A willingness to complete a Level 2 Food Safety Certificate (training provided) A satisfactory DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and references Please note: The salary listed reflects the full earning potential for this role.
