Job Title: Senior Optometrist
Grade: Band 6/7/8a depending on experience

Hours: 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri 8am-5pm (1 hr break)
Pay rate: Weekdays starting from £19 per hour

The hub of the Trust is located on the outskirts of Nuneaton and its services cover a large footprint, including north Warwickshire, southwest Leicestershire, and north Coventry.
The Trust also provides a range of community services, delivered across Coventry, Warwickshire and Leicestershire. These include sexual health and community dentistry services for the whole of Warwickshire as well as hosting the Blue Sky Sexual Assault Referral Cent
Main duties of the job
1. To be an autonomous practitioner providing highly skilled and specialised HES optometric services to GEH.
2. To work closely with the Lead Optometrist and Operational Manager in order to deliver a comprehensive range of specialist optometric services to the highest standards of quality and patient care.
3. The post holder will have clinical responsibility for the specialist paediatric and some adult refraction clinics.
4. Patients may have specific learning difficulties, special needs, various degrees of visual disability and varying communication skills.
5. The post holder will participate in multi-disciplinary Glaucoma diagnosis and
6. management clinics
7. The post holder is required to contribute to the teaching, audit and clinical governance requirements of the Ophthalmology service.
8. Ophthalmology staff work as part of a multidisciplinary team and all members contribute to providing a high-quality service for its users.
9. If the post holder is a registered independent non- medical prescriber, to prescribe medicines for patients, working within the GEH Policy and Procedure for Non- medical Prescribing and Directorates local guidelines/procedures.
*being an independent prescriber is not essential to this post, but is advantageous.

Qualifications
Essential
18. GOC Registered Optometrist.
19. Professional knowledge acquired through Degree, clinical placement plus advanced clinical training and experience to Masters level or equivalent.
20. Significant post Pre-Registration experience.
21. Experience of testing children and additional learning needs patients.
22. Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
