AWS Data Engineer | S3 | Data Centre of Excellence, Milton Keynes
Join our community! We have an exciting opportunity to join our Data Centre of Excellence as an AWS Data Engineer. The AWS Data Engineer will work within a team of analysts to create data and insights supporting the bank's functional areas.
You’ll utilize a variety of skills, including excellent communication, functional awareness, and extensive analytical capabilities to understand models and data frameworks that support our data assets and business strategies.
Responsibilities:
1. Design, build, and maintain our AWS Data Estate, including S3 Lake Formation, Iceberg, and Snowflake platform.
2. Design AWS-based services and capabilities, adopting appropriate modeling techniques following architecture standards.
3. Lead AWS service design activities for strategic, large, and complex solutions.
4. Support the development of policies, standards, and guidelines for AWS service design.
5. Evaluate alternative design options, conducting cost, resource, and risk assessments.
6. Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
Requirements:
* Experience developing, testing, and deploying data pipelines, lakes, warehouses, and marts using AWS services such as S3, Glue, Athena, EMR, Kinesis, Lambda.
* Knowledge of major operating platforms and their connectivity issues.
* Experience with cloud security and endpoint security techniques.
* Experience with data governance tools and principles.
* Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, Scala, SQL, Spark, Unix shell scripting, and AWS CLI.
Preferred:
* Educational background in Cloud Engineering or Computer Science, supported by AWS certifications.
* Knowledge of encryption technologies and cloud operations monitoring frameworks.
Additional Information:
This permanent role is based in Milton Keynes, with a hybrid working pattern. We encourage applicants to consider travel distance and costs. We are open to discussing part-time hours or job shares.
