Job summary
Healthshare is asuccessful provider of clinical and diagnostic services to the NHS and privatesectors across various locations throughout the country. We are seeking to recruit a Senior Scrub Team Leader to work in our operating team at Healthshare Clinic West London. The post holder will provide leadership and direction to the operating theatre team, ensuring a safe, efficient and effective perioperative service is provided to patients and consultants users. The role includes clinical practice, human resources management, financial management and procurement. The post holder will ensure that professional and national standards are met and will act as a positive role model to junior staff following Nursing and Midwifery Council guidelines and recommendations.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide leadership and management for theatre department
2. Develop strong partnerships with key stakeholders both internally within Healthshare and externally consultants, suppliers, local NHS Trusts
3. Build effective controls for the monitoring and management of the nursing, ODP and HCA staff, and deliver effective action plans for continuous skills improvement
4. Ensure the Key Performance Indicator targets are achieved by the theatre department
5. Provide effective deployment of resources needed to sustain agreed activity levels

12. The Theatre Manager will encourage,develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of others and self. You willensure that Clinical Governance and Risk management are embedded within dailypractice and promote best evidence-based practice within own scope of practice.
13. As Theatre Lead you will ensure thereis a high standard of nursing care and safety for patients within the theatreunit, using evidence based practice. In addition to this, you will also developan environment conducive to the delivery and promotion of a high standard ofpatient care. This will include ensuring all staff are appropriately skilledand trained and there is a skills development programme, if necessary, inplace.
14. You will maintain a high visibilitywithin the clinical area. Manage staff effectively to prevent skill mix discrepancies that may impedepatient flow and theatre efficiency
15. Liaise with all departments from theadmissions office, to the recovery ward to ensure that the theatre list ismanaged timely, effectively, and proactively. That all instruments andequipment required is available and in full working order. All changes orissues communicated appropriately.
16. Proactivelyparticipates in the Financial and Resource management of the department. Thiscovers, at the very least, ensuring that appropriately trained and skilledstaff are available for procedures, and that financially the department isviable, with good cost effective management of all theatre resources (bothhuman and material) within an agreed budget
17. Developand implement local protocols, contribute to future development planning of thedepartment.
18. Manageand escalate where necessary issues and complaints with associated, writtenreports, including recommendations on required actions as appropriate.
Patient Pathway Planning
19. Competently manage the department to enable effective andsafe patient scheduling which allows for prompt theatre starts with appropriatetheatre teams.
20. Work with and support the whole surgical team to reduce gapsbetween cases and Minimise cancellations
You will ensure that the following iscompetently managed:

22. Surgeons Preference cards
23. Oversee the safe handling, storage/security andadministration of drugs within all areas of the peri-operative care setting( anaesthetics, theatre, and recovery)
24. Ensureregular checks and maintenance of equipment and ensure its safe use, reportingany faults immediately
Monitoring and Reporting
25. The Theatre Lead will monitor andassist in the delivery of patient care and provide appropriate clinical andmanagerial leadership throughout the department. You will act as a role modeland mentor to clinical staff providing advice and support to others to promotegood practice consistent with legislation and hospital policies.
26. Managerecruitment of Contracted, Bank or Agency staff. Ensuring that theyattend/receive induction training and all mandatory training. receive adepartmental induction
27. Managingstaffs performance using the appraisal process
28. Manageenquiries concerns and complaints from patients and visitors in a courteous, timelyand relevant manner, informing the Theatre Manager when appropriate actionshave been taken, or when necessary referring an enquiry to a more appropriatemember of the management team. This includes all safeguarding issues.
