This is a great opportunity for nurses who would like to work within the maternity recovery and theatre setting at Queen Charlotte's Hospital.
The role entails providing care to women and babies in the maternity recovery area following surgical procedures.
The role would also include supporting with theatre activity and the potential to develop role within operating theatre as theatre scrub practitioner. The post holder will assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate programs of care for individual women/birthing people.
They will be involved in the preparation of theatre equipment and instrument and responsible for maintaining asepsis intraoperative and compliance with WHO safety procedures.

Main duties of the job
To provide high standards of skilled care and support in both perioperative and post-operative areas of the maternity service.
You will work collaboratively with all members of the theatre, maternity and multidisciplinary team to ensure a safe and effective service is provided
The role involves carrying out post-operative care in the maternity recovery area involves and participating as a scrubbed or circulating member of the team with in theatre.

Essential criteria
1. Registered nurse > 1year
2. Evidence of continuous professional development
3. Basic Life Support
Desirable criteria
4. Theatre course
5. Post anaesthetic course or experience
6. Advanced life support
Experience
Essential criteria
7. Theatre or recovery experience
8. Able to demonstrate knowledge of clinical role in maternity recovery
9. Care of the deteriorating patient
Desirable criteria
10. Experience in recovery/HDU
11. Use of MEOWS
12. Familiar with PCA/epidurals for pain relief
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
Essential criteria
13. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
14. Competent in computer/IT skills
15. Awareness of theatre environment and resources
16. Venepuncture and cannulation
Desirable criteria
17. Knowledge of risk management and Datix
