Help Deliver Reuse-Led Projects with Real Social Impact
At West London Waste Authority (WLWA), we are committed to reducing waste and maximising reuse in ways that benefit both the environment and our communities. As part of our growing Circular Economy and Net Zero team, we are looking for a Project Manager to support the successful delivery of initiatives that drive re-use, create social value, and contribute to a more sustainable, equitable West London.
This role is ideal for someone looking to deepen their project management experience while contributing to high-impact, community-focused environmental programmes.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Circular Economy Project Manager, you will play a key role in delivering a portfolio of waste reduction and reuse projects. You will support the planning, coordination, and reporting of multiple initiatives and may also take the lead on individual workstreams or smaller projects, particularly those focused on re-use infrastructure, social value delivery, or community engagement.
You'll work closely with local authorities, contractors, social enterprises, and internal colleagues to help ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with strategic priorities.
What You'll Be Doing
* Support the day-to-day delivery and coordination of circular economy projects across the Authority.
* Work alongside senior colleagues to develop reuse models, manage project timelines, monitor budgets, and report on key outcomes.
* Support the measurement and reporting of social value outcomes such as local employment, community engagement, and access to reuse services.
* Contribute to business cases, risk registers, and lessons learned logs.
* Engage a range of stakeholders, including borough officers, contractors, and voluntary or community sector partners.
* Help plan and deliver community-focused communications and engagement activity to promote re-use and behavioural change.
* Promote a culture of safety, compliance and sustainability throughout all project activity.
Who This Role is For
We're looking for a capable and enthusiastic project professional who is passionate about the circular economy and the social benefits of reuse. This role would suit someone with experience supporting or managing projects in environmental services, local government, social enterprise, or infrastructure, and who is ready to contribute to meaningful, on-the-ground change.
Examples of relevant experience might include:
* Supporting waste or sustainability projects in a local authority or consultancy setting
* Working on community-focused or environmental social enterprise programmes
* Delivering re-use, repair or behaviour change initiatives in a public, private or third sector context
* Coordinating partnerships, pilots, or infrastructure development programmes with social or environmental objectives
Essential Skills and Experience
* Demonstrable experience supporting or managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Effective communicator with the ability to draft clear reports and support internal governance processes.
* Knowledge of or interest in circular economy, reuse, social value or sustainability.
* Competent in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and Word.
* Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant subject area such as environmental management, project delivery, community development or sustainability.
Desirable
* Understanding of social value frameworks (e.g. the Social Value Act, TOMs).
* Experience of public sector or local authority project work.
* Knowledge of planning, permitting, or waste-related regulations.
* Project management qualification (e.g. APM, PRINCE2, Agile).
* Experience working with or alongside charities, voluntary organisations or reuse networks.
What We Offer
* Salary of £43,739 – £46,939 (inclusive of London Weighting)
* Flexible, hybrid working (1–2 days per week on-site)
* 28 days annual leave plus public holidays
* Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme
* A collaborative and supportive team committed to environmental and social impact
