This is a hybrid position that can be based either in London (UK) or in Munich (Germany) and will report to the Manager of Commercial Supply Chain Planning based in London, UK.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Planner, Commercial Supply Chain Planning will manage operational aspects of the finished goods packaging production planning and distribution for the International region.
This role will manage the International finished goods supply plans to ensure demand is met and inventory levels are maintained across the network. The Supply Planner will work together with internal teams (upstream supply planning, tech ops, artwork, packaging engineering, quality, logistics, demand planning), external packaging contract manufacturers, and 3rd party logistics to execute the supply plan.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
General responsibilities:
* Owns day to day planning activities for the supply of finished goods across a extensive network of suppliers and warehouses, with the aim to ensure supply and optimize inventories
* Coordinates and drives internal stakeholders, contract manufacturing partners and 3rd party logistics for specific projects/activities and/or to resolve any issue that might jeopardize supply
* Masters and develops systems to effectively manage operational activities and maintain accurate inventory data
* Contributes to processes development and promotes best practices and standardization
* Contributes to the roadmap for continuous improvement initiatives
* Delivers reliably and responsibly on independent activities and acts as a Supply Chain contact internally and with external manufacturing/logistics suppliers
* Supports other members of the Supply Planning Team with both operational activities and development opportunities
Operational responsibilities:
* Define the optimal inventory levels for each distribution location; work with internal and external stakeholders to execute against such plan
* Proactively report any risk to meet the safety stock levels for each location or the wider business continuity strategy
* Right-first time: ensure the Regulatory and Quality requirements for each SKU/customer/destination are well understood, documented and aligned with the external/internal partners; flag risks and opportunities
* Build and manage a plan for any customization activities at the 3PL partners
* Ensures inventory data in Vertex systems is up to date and accurate
* Perform demand/supply scenario analyses and provide supply options and recommendations to management and colleagues
* Contributes to inventory reconciliation activities and leads the destruction process for unsellable stock
* Contribute with inputs to the Sales & Operations Planning process
* Proactively manage masterdata within planning tools and systems
* Ensures compliance obligations are adhered to and completed on time (trainings, deviations, CAPA, change controls…)
* Provides analysis and inputs for periodic 3PL meetings (QBR, ABR…)
* Participate in performance improvement projects internally or with sites. Finds opportunities for continuous improvement.
EDUCATION:
* Preferred but not mandatory STEM education
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
* Analytical thinking and attention to detail
* Comfortable with evolving responsibilities and structure
* Team player that can demonstrate a can-do attitude in supporting the company wider goals
* Ability to collaborate with other functional areas
* Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint
* Proficiency in supply planning/production scheduling
* Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (written/oral)
* ERP and planning systems experience
* Extensive GMP/GDP knowledge
* Knowledge of pharmaceutical supply chain and overall drug development
* Ability to bring creativity and energy to resolve supply and/or technical challenges
* Displays effectiveness in managing customer expectations and influencing others
* Experience managing 3rd party supply chain partners (CMOs, 3PL…)
Travel:
* This position might require 15% travel to suppliers and Vertex offices internationally.
