Overview
Tesco Shift Leader - Days - Poulner Express role at Tesco. Shift Leader role with pay from £14.76 per hour (rises to £15.97 in stores inside the M25). Minimum guaranteed hours per week are 16, with options to work down to 12 hours if desired.
Responsibilities
* Work in a fast-paced retail environment with variety
* Lead duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations
* Be present for customers, listening to their needs and ensuring they leave with what they came for
* Coach colleagues, provide feedback, and look for ways to improve service
* Guide and support colleagues to keep the store safe for customers and staff
* Understand store performance and assist managers in actions to improve operations
* Lead from the front and set a positive example
Availability and hours: The role includes listed availability windows throughout the week; contracted hours will be scheduled within these times with 3 weeks’ notice. Flexibility is supported where exact times may vary.
Requirements
* Be 18 or over to apply
* Demonstrate strong customer service and leadership capabilities
* Ability to communicate effectively and lead in the absence of a manager
* Commitment to health and safety and to creating an inclusive, safe store environment
What you will be responsible for
* Coordinating the store team to deliver an easy, fuss-free shopping experience for customers
* Supporting colleagues to deliver daily priorities and take regular breaks
* Opening and closing the store and ensuring safe duty cover
* Being the go-to person for day-to-day queries in the absence of a manager
* Maintaining a clean, tidy, well-presented store
* Coordinating seasonal, community and charity events with managers
* Contributing to a positive team atmosphere that includes everyone
* Providing great customer service by listening to customers
* Keeping the team informed of communications and updates
* Understanding store performance and seeking ways to improve operations
* Coordinating store improvements and removing obstacles to service
* Following health and safety procedures and ensuring colleagues do the same
* Recognising and celebrating colleagues for great service
