To be a great Store Manager at one of our convenience stores, you don’t necessarily need retail experience. Surprised? If you’re a leader who can inspire your team to delight customers every day, by analysing reports and data and transforming that insight into actionable improvements that your team understand and can get behind, then you’ll flourish in this role.
What you’ll be doing
While your team of Customer and Trading Managers will run the shifts and manage the day-to-day operations, you’ll have ultimate control over the store’s performance. You’ll be a visible and accountable leader — identifying, solving, and anticipating issues now and in the future, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
You’ll need to ensure all safety and legal standards are met for customers and staff. Additionally, you will develop talent within your teams, ensuring a pipeline of motivated individuals ready to move into management roles and beyond.
5S ONLY
You may also be managing two stores simultaneously — dividing your time between them and staying informed about both locations.
Who you are
You can lead and inspire a large team to deliver exceptional customer experiences. You are proactive in seeking out and solving problems by engaging directly on the shop floor, motivating your teams, and being a visible leader.
Your starting point will be the valuable data generated daily — analysing trends, translating insights into actionable activities, and prioritising those of greatest value to your store’s success. To operate at your best, you’ll have access to the latest technology, including handheld devices, enabling you to stay mobile and effective without being tied to a desk.
How you’ll progress
This role provides valuable experience for advancement into senior management roles within larger Sainsbury’s stores. Our extensive network means there are plenty of opportunities in your area, across stores of various sizes. Show us your potential, and we’ll support your growth every step of the way.
