Neway International are seeking two Social Workers (Children’s) to join our client based with Knowsley Borough Council.
Location: 2nd Floor, Nutgrove Villa, Westmorland Road, Huyton, Merseyside, L36 6GA
Hours: 36 hours per week
Start Date: 2 March 2026
Duration: 12 weeks
Work Pattern: 3 days office‑based, 2 days remote. About the Client: Knowsley Borough Council’s Children’s Social Care service provides statutory support to children, young people, and families, ensuring safety, stability, and long‑term positive outcomes.
The Looked After Children (LAC) teams play a crucial role in permanency planning, court proceedings, and delivering high‑quality social work practice.
The Social Worker will work within the Looked After Children service, managing a complex caseload and delivering high‑quality statutory social work. The role requires strong experience in court work, adoption processes, final care planning, and permanency planning. Practitioners must be confident in managing risk, producing robust assessments, and working collaboratively with multi‑agency partners.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of looked after children, ensuring statutory requirements are met
* Prepare and present high‑quality court reports, statements, and care plans
* Lead on permanency planning, including adoption, long‑term fostering, and SGO pathways
* Develop and implement final care plans in line with the child’s best interests
* Work closely with legal teams, carers, health, education, and partner agencies
* Undertake direct work with children and young people to inform assessments and planning
* Attend court hearings, LAC reviews, permanency panels, and multi‑agency meetings
* Maintain accurate, timely case recordings and documentation
* Ensure safeguarding concerns are identified, escalated, and managed appropriately
* Contribute to service improvement and uphold high professional standards
Candidate Requirements
* Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
* Significant experience in Looked After Children services
* Strong background in court work, including statements, evidence, and care planning
* Experience in adoption and permanency planning
* Ability to manage complex caseloads and meet statutory timescales
* Excellent written and analytical skills
* Confident working in a hybrid model (3 days office, 2 days remote)
* Strong communication and multi‑agency partnership skills
* Enhanced DBS required
