Responsibilities
- Unit Senior Sister/Charge Nurse for a 36 bedded Critical Care Unit working as Unit Co-ordinator and Unit management responsibilities, facilitate innovative and evidence-based nursing/midwifery practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team.
- Act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower other staff to develop both personally and professionally and achieve their maximum potential.
- Liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team and facilitate a collaborative approach to patient care; report directly to the Matron.
- Have Unit managerial responsibilities.
- Exchange verbal and written information with patients, staff and carers requiring tact and diplomacy; ensure all barriers to understanding are overcome by using differing strategies to meet individual need.
- Demonstrate skills for assessing and interpreting specialist acute and other patient conditions, initiating actions as appropriate; investigate and respond to accidents, complaints and serious untoward incidents and other significant events, completing required root cause analysis on time and ensuring resulting action plans are implemented and evaluated.
- Ensure appropriate systems are in place for the safe and timely admission and discharge of patients.
