We are seeking an experienced Machine Shop & Inspection Manager to establish a vision for our Machine Shop and Inspection team and manage both teams to help create a cohesive “Manufacturing Excellence Centre” that will help grow our manufacturing capability, product portfolio and ROI.
Key Responsibilities:
Continuous Improvement:
1. drive cost competitive manufacturing through continuous improvement, as well as enhancing on time delivery.
2. Manufacturing efficiency optimisation through metric based leadership and adherence to standard processes.
3. Manage cost and delivery improvement activities.
Operational Management:
4. Track and actively steer the teams towards performing against KPI’s.
5. Deliver production plan on time to secure customer deliveries.
6. Ensure that the quality system is in place and adhered to, to deliver the highest standards.
7. Lead the business unit on creating budget prices/quotes for new jobs, and KPI’s – as well as inspection lead time estimates.
People Management:
8. Driving daily output to production.
9. Organise Inspection resource to ensure priorities are managed effectively.
10. Establish and maintain visual management in the machine shop.
11. Daily toolbox of priorities and initiatives for machinists.
Strategic Development:
12. Involvement in drafting business cases for investment in manufacturing technology.
13. Help promote the right culture which support a “Premium manufacturing facility” supporting a range of high-profile clients.
Who are we looking for?
14. Degree in Manufacturing/Engineering or equivalent relevant industry experience.
15. Significant level of operational experience, preferably within Automotive or similar. Knowledge of CNC machining including batch work and prototypes is advantageous.
16. CAD/CAM, experience preferred but not essential.
17. Thorough understanding of metrological inspection methods – in particular CMM.
18. Interpreting engineering drawings with GD&T feature controls.
19. Experience in production management of manufacturing equipment.
20. Experience in new facility set-up, re-layout activities.
21. Sound knowledge of OHSS & Quality systems (i.e., ISO 9001, APQP, 5S).
