Role Responsibilities
You’ll play a vital role in supporting the Council’s statutory responsibilities to safeguard children, providing high‑quality legal advice, case management and advocacy across a varied and sensitive child care caseload. Working closely with social care colleagues, you’ll advise on complex public law matters, conduct care proceedings, and represent the Council in court with professionalism and confidence. Alongside your casework, you’ll contribute to the development of the child care legal service, support colleagues as required, and help ensure a consistent, effective and child‑focused legal approach that delivers positive outcomes for families and communities across West Northamptonshire.

With a focus on career development, wellbeing, flexibility and support, this is an opportunity for you to take the next step on your career journey in a supported environment. We have mentoring, buddying, coaching, training and many other opportunities available to assist and develop you, to ensure your success in the role and your ongoing progression and success within the Council. We will also consider any version of flexible working you can come up with.
