The Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate is one of the three government enforcement bodies that regulate the labour market. Specifically, EAS has regulatory responsibility for the growing recruitment sector in Great Britain.

This vacancy is for a Grade 7 Head of Operations to join the Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate and play a key leadership role. Reporting to the Head of Employment Agency’s Standards Inspectorate you will have responsibility for the effective and efficient running of several geographically dispersed operational teams.
This will be a key role in the effective leadership and management of EAS both day to day and in planning and operational strategic direction. It will require you to think creatively and tactically and lead teams through changes and drive performance. You will be responsible for providing direction and leadership to two SEO grade Team Leaders. You will be responsible for driving productivity in the team, leading to high quality inspections, casework, whilst delivering strong business delivery outcomes. This includes optimising resources, work allocation, forecasting, professionalism, and business delivery, whilst helping set organisational culture, expectation and business objectives.
You will ensure the team deliver quality work and will have responsibility for capability building and quality checks. You will contribute to the key strategic objectives including Standardisation, Systemisation and Automation, whilst empowering performance in your operational team. You will play a key role in working developing and working with a range of stakeholder both across Government but also critically with Business in the recruitment sector.
Under this Governments ‘Plan for Change’ Government has committed to ‘Make work Pay’. A key element of this is the creation of the Fair Work Agency which is included in the Employment Right Bill. EAS alongside the Gangmaster Labour Abuse Authority, and HMRCs National Minimum Wage Team are the three key bodies that will come together to form this new and exciting body. The FWA is a body at the forefront of delivery for the public and has intensive political investment in its success. You will be joining EAS at a pivotal time to influence and help lead the team into the FWA.
High level planning is currently taking place. We expect this to happen in early April 2026 and this post will remain within the civil service.
