Join Our Team as a Group Marine Environmental Compliance Officer

We are seeking a dedicated Group Marine Environmental Compliance Officer to join our team at the Port of Liverpool and help keep the world moving!
Your Role
In this role, you will:
1. Ensure Group Marine activities comply with relevant local, national, and international legislation.
2. Understand marine licences, environmental permits, and other consenting processes in England and Scotland.
3. Track emerging environmental legislation and adapt practices accordingly.
4. Implement Habitat Regulations, Water Environment Regulations, and Marine and Coastal Access Act requirements.
5. Conduct Habitat Regulations Assessments, Marine Conservation Zone assessments, and Water Framework Directive assessments.
6. Liaise with regulators and stakeholders as needed.
7. Understand Marine Planning processes and contribute to their development and implementation on behalf of the Statutory Harbour Authority.
What You'll Bring
We are looking for candidates who:
1. Have demonstrable experience with marine licences, environmental permits, and consenting processes in England and Scotland.
2. Possess a strong understanding of key regulations and assessment procedures, including the Environment Act, Habitats Regulations, Water Environmental Regulations, Marine and Coastal Access Act, and statutory harbour authority’s environmental duties.
3. Are familiar with marine planning policies and capable of tracking evolving regulatory landscapes.
4. Are skilled in preparing consultation responses when required.
5. Possess excellent report writing and communication skills.
6. Are able to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Have a degree in a relevant discipline.
