PURPOSE OF THE ROLE The BBC Food and Farming Awards are a nationally recognised celebration of the individuals and organisations transforming the way Britain eats, farms, and thinks about food. Established in 2000 to mark the 20th anniversary of Radio 4's The Food Programme, the awards highlight outstanding contributions across sustainable farming, food production, community initiatives, and innovation. Each year, the programme shines a spotlight on producers, educators, retailers, and unsung food heroes whose work enriches the UK's food culture and supports a more sustainable future.
The awards have been held across the UK in Newport, Glasgow and Bristol in recent years. For the first time, the awards are coming to Belfast and will be hosted with support from the Northern Irish Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
Join the team driving the awards ceremony from planning to delivery, working with top BBC partners and leading on site to make the event a success. You will be working with a team which is predominantly based in Bristol to deliver our most ambitious awards ceremony yet.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
The role will include managing the lead up to the ceremony, in conjunction with the production manager and producers from The Food Programme.
You will also work closely with multiple partners from both within the BBC and externally, as well as being on location for the event itself to ensure it runs smoothly.
You will work closely with the editorial team and supervise junior members of the team, as well as volunteers for the event.
You will be responsible for preparing, managing and monitoring production budgets and reporting the financial position to the editor and production executive.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
You'll need to have experience of planning and organising high impact live events, along with a good working knowledge of safety procedures associated with publicly-attended events.
You will have managed relationships with both external stakeholders and experience of working with both programme and technical teams.
You'll have proven ability to manage projects within a set budget, as well as a demonstrable experience of working with BBC systems, including SAP.
You also need to have an interest in food and/or farming.
You'll have some experience of supervising and supporting junior members of a team
If you can bring some of these skills and experiences, along with transferable strengths, we'd love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.
