Internal vacancy. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Diabetes and Endocrine Clinical Nurse Specialist. This is a full-time Band 7 role, Monday‑Friday, 7.5 hour shifts. The post will require cross‑site working. The post holder will work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team providing a specialist nursing service for patients with Diabetes and Endocrine disorders. They will support the team reviewing patients who are currently inpatients or who are being seen on an outpatient basis, offer advice and specialist support to the patients, their families, and colleagues as necessary. The post holder may need to support the lead nurse in the development of the service. There may be a requirement to deputise for the Nursing Lead CNS in their absence.
Main Duties of the Job
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence‑based nursing care for people with complex needs for their Diabetes and Endocrine management.
* Provide expert clinical care for patients and support other staff to develop their competencies in diabetes and endocrine management.
* Involved in teaching and training both formally to clinical staff and to patients.
* Work within Shrewsbury and Telford Acute Trust and, where appropriate, collaborate with primary and community care and link to other specialists within the acute setting to implement the integrated care pathway for people with diabetes and endocrinology.
* Lead audit in their sub‑specialty areas and support colleagues in service development and quality improvement work.
