About Our Opportunity We are looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join our team at our Middlesbrough site, supporting the safe and efficient operation of plant and equipment across the facility. This is a hands-on role within our Engineering and Production team, where you’ll play an important part in maintaining equipment reliability and ensuring the smooth running of site operations. You will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across site machinery and plant. Working closely with production teams and shift supervisors, you will help minimise downtime, identify opportunities for improvement, and maintain high engineering and safety standards. Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance on site plant and machinery. Support the safe and efficient day-to-day running of the site’s engineering operations. Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and optimise performance. Conduct inspections, audits, and preventative maintenance activities on equipment. Maintain control of tools and spare parts to support operational reliability. About You You are a skilled and proactive fitter with experience maintaining plant and equipment in an industrial environment. Time-served mechanical engineer with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification. Experience carrying out mechanical maintenance in heavy industry, manufacturing, or process environments. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Good understanding of safe working practices, risk assessments, and compliance. Ability to work independently as well as part of a wider engineering team. Welding/fabrication, electrical knowledge, or forklift/MEWP licences would be advantageous.
