Role: EHS Lead - Regional
Location: Cumbria
Salary: £55,000 per annum - £60,000 per annum + £6,000 car allowance or company car + wider benefits.
Seeking dynamic and hands on EHS Lead, on behalf of a profitable sales and agricultural organisation, who has a multitude of small complex facilities - all local to Cumbria. The sites are fast paced, high hazard with a high risk profile. This role focuses on championing continuous improvement for EHS compliance, bridging the gap between work as imagined vs work is done; helping them raise the bar when it comes to Environment, Health and Safety standards. Taking the workforce on a cultural journey where they are empowered, confident to take ownership and accountability for EHS themselves. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping a strong safety culture - empowering and coaching teams to take ownership, build confidence, and drive accountability for EHS at every level. Overview
* Act as the subject matter specialist for the sites, offering advice and support to line managers and leaders on all Environment, Health & Safety matters.
* Work collaboratively on central projects within a well-supported team led by a hands-on Head of EHS.
* Coach and mentor an EHS apprentice, providing regular appraisals, supervisions and offering development opportunities.
* Manage and support delivery of the operational EHS plans for all sites, ensuring the Head of EHS is updated as required and the work is aligned with environmental initiatives.
* Maintain an active role in supporting managers to promote, embed and reflect a culture of safety, responsibility, and awareness; challenge attitudes and behaviours that do not support this and escalating appropriately.
* Lead and deliver a rolling programme of monthly EHS inspections for all sites, with scheduled follow up on actions required to ensure remediation within agreed timescales.
* Drive continuous improvement EHS projects, ensuring colleagues are engaged, communicated with, and developed to enable sustainable change.
* Support and coach managers with training, general advice and upskilling of all company and site operatives to promote safer working practices, and lead in-house training with managers and employees regarding environmental, health and safety issues and risks.
* Support managers to ensure risk assessments are completed, regularly reviewed and appropriately recorded; provide advice on control measures to reduce risk and ensure any operational plans are updated accordingly.
* Support managers to ensure all accidents and near misses are suitably investigated, recorded, and control measures identified and implemented.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
* Work with managers to identify relevant training for their teams and individual colleagues, developing a training plan and sourcing and recommending potential providers.
* Ensure all relevant legislation and approved codes of practice are adhered to in respect of ongoing compliance.
* Chair regular EHS Committee meetings, ensuring minutes and actions are recorded.
* Develop and maintain emergency response plans and conduct regular emergency drills to monitor and ensure preparedness.
* Adhere to business and Group policies and procedures, including but not limited to those relating to Environmental Health and Safety.

Ideal background and education
* Sales/retail, agricultural, foundry, mining, metals, manufacturing experience.
* NEBOSH Certificate as a minimum or IOSH LV 3.
* Experience of coaching/ mentoring others.
* Prior EHS experience, across multiple sites/facilities.
