With this role there is an expectation to travel across the county.

Are you a qualified Social Worker looking for your next challenge?

We have an exciting opportunity in our Mental Health Social Care - Intensive Support Team based in Scarborough we are looking for two Mental Health Social Workers to join them on a full-time substantive basis. We are also going through an exciting restructure of services at this time, which will provide opportunities to develop your skills.

If you are an individual who thrives on working in a field where no two days are ever the same, in a rewarding and fast paced environment, then this is the role for you.

NYC works alongside an NHS Mental Health Foundation Trust to deliver a joint, resilient, and responsive Adult Community Mental Health Service across North Yorkshire. Supported by the Team Manager, your base will be at Scarborough Town Hall, Scarborough. The team works to support adults with mental health difficulties and their carers – this is a busy team, and you will support your colleagues as and when required. It will give you an excellent opportunity to flourish in a challenging yet stimulating work environment, demonstrating your expertise and ability to work in line with legislation, policies, and guidelines.

You will work closely with the local integrated community mental health team, based in Scarborough. You will provide professional support in terms of interventions with individuals, families and groups and jointly work and communicate with staff across the primary and secondary care interface. You will also liaise with non-statutory organisations to meet service user /carer needs.

Working in partnership with members of the multi-disciplinary team e.g., medical staff, occupational therapists, psychologist, social care staff, nursing care staff and students on placement, you will deliver the requirements of the Care Act and other statutory duties such as Adult Safeguarding.

As a Mental Health Social Worker, you will have responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating Social Care for individuals in a community setting. You will support people with Secondary Care needs, using a Recovery Model approach to help maximise people's potential to maintain their independence in their own homes and communities.

When undertaking assessments under The Care Act 2014, you will work with individuals in a person-centred way utilising their unique strengths and celebrating individuality. This will be reflected in the assessment and support plans that you complete in collaboration with the people you support, to ensure they are receiving meaningful interventions that make a positive difference to the lives they choose to lead. We believe that a person's community and social networks play a vital role in ensuring that we achieve the best outcomes for people. It will, therefore, be part of your role to think creatively when looking for solutions for individual needs.

A background in Mental Health would be beneficial but is not essential for this role. We believe that a positive attitude, a tenacity for learning/developing and a passion for supporting individuals to achieve their maximum potential are the desired attributes of applicants interested in undertaking this role.

You will receive training and be given the opportunity to further your understanding of a wide range of mental illnesses and be encouraged via annual appraisal and supervision to build on your own professional interests within the mental health field. To be eligible for this post you will have a professional Social Care qualification in Social Work, DipSW or CQSW and have current registration with Social Work England.

We fully recognise the need to support staff development and enhance their skills and experience, which we deliver through senior professionals within the service who can the wealth of experience they have gained through years as social care practitioners. We welcome applications from newly qualified Social Workers and offer support through ASYE.
