North Somerset Council is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to a social worker or registered health professional with extensive experience of safeguarding adults work. A permanent full-time vacancy has arisen for a Senior Safeguarding Adults Officer.
About the role
You will work as part of a supportive central safeguarding team that leads safeguarding adults work across the council. The successful applicant will be responsible, under the supervision of the safeguarding adults manager, for the supervision and day-to-day practice leadership of a team of safeguarding adults officers including a nurse, social workers, and adult social care workers to undertake all aspects of operational safeguarding work. This includes coordinating the local authority response to safeguarding concerns through S.42(1) decisions and undertaking S.42(2) safeguarding enquiries.
The role involves chairing safeguarding meetings and leading service-level safeguarding responses to concerns around organisational abuse. You will also support other adult care teams, provide advice on safeguarding matters, and work with multi-agency partners. The role offers opportunities to participate in policy development, training, and work with safeguarding board sub-groups.

This position is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975 and is subject to an enhanced DBS check. A valid driving license and own transport, or alternative travel arrangements, are essential.
About you
You will hold a relevant qualification in health or social care (e.g., Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing). You should have extensive safeguarding adults experience, knowledge of the Care Act, and experience chairing multi-agency meetings. Awareness of the safeguarding adults board’s role and functions is beneficial.
