Job Purpose
The Café Supervisor is responsible for the smooth running of daily service at the Gatehouse Café — a warm, relaxed space within a wider project rooted in regenerative living, community connection, and seasonal food, with a focus on low-waste practices and creating positive impact within the local community.
This is a key-holder role requiring confidence, initiative, and a hands-on approach. The successful candidate will oversee all front-of-house operations, from barista work to guest experience, ensuring the café remains a welcoming and well-run space.

Core Responsibilities
Front of House Operations
* Open and close the café independently.
* Lead service, including barista work, food running, and customer care.
* Maintain a clean, welcoming space in line with Gatehouse values.
* Uphold high standards of presentation and guest experience.
Stock & Communication
* Monitor stock levels and communicate with management on ordering needs.
* Receive deliveries and ensure smooth service preparation.
Additional Involvement (Optional, by interest)
Extra hours may be available to candidates interested in wider project support:
* Land-based tasks (mowing, weeding, planting veg).
* Accommodation support (guest check-ins, cleaning, preparing hampers).
Person Specification
Essential
* Strong hospitality or café experience.
* Barista skills (or confidence to learn quickly).
* Organised, friendly, and self-motivated.
* Reliable and comfortable working independently or with a small team.
* Weekend availability.
Desirable
* Food hygiene certificate (Level 2 or above).
* Interest in sustainability, local food, and land-based living.
