Position Details
1. Duration: 12 months, starting November 2025
2. Suitable for: Stage 3 anaesthesia trainees seeking an SIA in Cardiac Anaesthesia or those gaining post-CCT experience in cardiac anaesthesia for future consultant roles
3. Location: Bristol Heart Institute, a large regional cardiac centre
4. Notes: No educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean, no National Training Number
5. Requirements: GMC registration with a license to practice and right to work in the UK; confirmation of equivalent qualifications if applicable
Role Responsibilities
Exposure to adult and congenital cardiac diseases (excluding transplantation), involvement in diagnosis and surgical/interventional management, perioperative anaesthetic and intensive care management, including use of advanced techniques such as transoesophageal echocardiography, pulmonary artery catheterisation, nitric oxide, aortic balloon counter pulsation, haemofiltration, and percutaneous tracheostomy.
