Are you an experienced theatre practitioner looking to develop your leadership skills within a fast-paced trauma environment?
Main Theatres is a busy 24/7 nine-theatre department delivering specialist services across Trauma, ENT & Head & Neck, Vascular, Digestive Diseases, Gynaecology, CEPOD and Obstetrics, and forms part of the Major Trauma Centre for the region.
Working within the Trauma service, you will support both planned trauma lists and emergency surgical activity.
As a dual-skilled Band 6 practitioner, you will provide scrub and anaesthetic support, scrubbing for a wide range of procedures including major orthopaedic trauma, polytrauma cases, fracture fixation and emergency surgery.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate and run trauma theatres, ensuring specialist instrumentation and equipment are available, responding to changes in theatre lists, and maintaining effective patient flow.
* Provide out‑of‑hours leadership, assist with prioritisation of CEPOD lists, and support other theatre specialties.
* Support supervision and development of junior staff, HCAs, learners, student nurses and student ODPs.
* Work closely with the Team Leader providing essential clinical and managerial support to ensure smooth theatre operations.
* Lead by example, offering clinical leadership, guidance and teaching to relevant staff.
* Provide expert technical and clinical advice to colleagues within the peri‑operative environment.
* Support and inform patients undergoing anaesthesia and trauma, ensuring a comfortable and safe experience.
* Assist in the development of safe, high‑quality specialist care, adhering to the Trust's Nursing & Midwifery guidelines and contributing to continuous improvement.
