About the Role
SpaMedica, the UK's largest provider of NHS cataract surgery, is seeking a Hospital Optometrist to join our team at Colchester. This role focuses on patient care rather than sales targets or KPIs. No prior hospital experience is required as full training will be provided, with support from senior optometrists.
You will be part of our team of 150 hospital optometrists, supporting cataract services across various clinics (Pre-op, Post-op, YAG laser treatments). There are opportunities to develop skills in Medical Retina, Glaucoma, and our private service, Freedom Vision. We also offer occasional work from home options.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform pre and post-operative assessments for cataract patients.
* Conduct pre-op assessments for YAG laser capsulotomy referrals.
* Obtain informed consent professionally and ethically.
* Participate in on-call and weekend rota as needed.
* Ensure clinical areas are prepared and equipment checked before and after clinics.
* Complete basic life support and manual handling training.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team in daily clinic operations.
Candidate Requirements
* Qualified optometrist with current GOC registration.
* Passionate about learning, with higher qualifications preferred.
* Experience in hospital optometry is a plus but not essential; full training provided.
