HOTA (Humberside Offshore Training Association Ltd) is seeking to appoint a Full Time Short Course Firefighting Instructor to The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in Firefighting and be Ex-serving Firefighter or from a military background.
Formal Teaching and assessment qualifications are desirable but full training will be given as required.
Hours: 37.5 per week
Description:
The role will also (but not exclusively) include the following as required:
Main Tasks
· Planning and preparing lessons
· Teaching a diverse group of individuals from different educational backgrounds
· Ensure courses are conducted to standards set by the Governing/Approving Body
· Research, develop and update current practices
· Maintain and create lessons plans
· Develop courses as required
· Monitoring, assessing and marking students' work
· Performing/demonstration and assessment as appropriate to each course
· Preparing and maintaining all firefighting equipment used
· Quality assurance of all courses taught
· Maintaining accurate records/ monitoring students' progress as required
· Liaising with awarding bodies to ensure quality standards are met
· Audits, risk assessment and fire checks (including fire drills)
· Preparing audits for awarding bodies visits/audits
· Staff training throughout HOTA
· Evaluating and developing self.
· Ensure CPD files are continuously updated.
· Ensure adequate training records are kept.
· Carry out remedial training where necessary.
· Evaluate and develop self.
Appointment
The appointment will be permanent subject to satisfactory performance and a 6 months probationary period. The post reports directly to the Team Leader or Assistant Operations Manager/Operations Manager.
Experience
The successful applicant will have the following proven experiences and characteristics:
Essential
· Ex Serving Firefighter or
· From a military background.
· Offshore, Maritime or Renewables Knowledge & Experience
Desirable
· Experience in a Training Environment
· Excellent communication skills
· Team Player
· Must be a strong swimmer
Preferable
· Award in Education & Training Certificate
· Assessing Certificate
· Diving Qualification
