An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Manager to join a well-established and growing food manufacturing business based in the Inverness area. This is a key leadership role, responsible for ensuring the highest technical and quality standards are maintained across a broad range of food products.
The Role:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will take full responsibility for the site’s technical performance, managing the Quality function and driving compliance across all aspects of food safety, hygiene, and quality assurance.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing and developing the site Quality Management System, policies, and procedures.
* Leading the HACCP team and maintaining BRC accreditation.
* Overseeing internal audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Ensuring compliance with customer standards (e.g., TFMS) and retailer requirements.
* Providing technical expertise and support during external audits.
* Overseeing laboratory operations and ensuring cost-effective testing and reporting.
* Managing supplier approval processes and maintaining strong technical relationships with key customers.
* Leading Quality KPI reviews and driving site-wide improvements in standards and performance.
About You:
We’re looking for a hands-on and proactive Technical Manager with a passion for quality and a strong understanding of food manufacturing standards.
Essential experience and qualifications:
* Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
* Proven experience in a technical or quality leadership role within the food industry.
* Strong working knowledge of BRCGS standards and food safety legislation.
* Advanced HACCP and Intermediate Food Hygiene qualification.
* Experience in internal auditing and managing external audits.
* Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
