Overview
The Mercian Trust is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to provide high‑quality therapy services across Trust schools, working with internal clinicians, external agencies and wellbeing leads.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with school and multi‑agency colleagues, including local authority professionals.
* Deliver casework, assessment, consultation, and training to children and young people, with a focus on Speech, Language and Communication needs.
* Manage a defined clinical caseload, providing assessment, case formulation, intervention and therapeutic oversight.
* Develop service improvement, support innovation across the Trust’s communication provision.
* Design and implement clear therapy intervention plans for delivery by Teaching Assistants, with clinical oversight.
* Provide expert advice, guidance and training to parents/carers and multidisciplinary team.
* Maintain accurate records, produce concise reports and liaise with families and partners.
* Assist schools in monitoring vulnerable and at‑risk children.
* Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and report concerns in line with Trust procedures.
Qualifications & Skills
* Recognised professional degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
* Registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Professionalism in complex situations; ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
