We’re looking for a new Systems Engineer to join our growing Digital & Technology Services team.
Formerly known as ICT Services, the team has recently undergone a major restructure, creating an exciting opportunity for you to bring your expertise to a developing and forward-looking environment.
As Systems Engineer, you will help manage the organisation’s Azure and Microsoft 365 environments, as well as our network infrastructure - including LAN, WAN, cloud services, and on-premises ICT systems. You will join a team of five Systems Engineers reporting to the Live Services Manager, and work closely with both the Service Desk and Cyber Security teams to deliver senior technical support and collaborate on resolving complex issues.
Due to the nature of this role, it is a requirement that the successful applicant will be subject to relevant vetting checks at the appropriate level and any job offer will be conditional subject to successful vetting clearance.

The Role
Reporting into the Live Services Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
· Provide expertise for the systems maintenance and support of the live technology infrastructure, including patching/upgrades for network and hardware, telephony, databases, middleware, and security monitoring.
· Design and meticulously implement update schedules to always ensure infrastructure components are secure, resilient, in support and available within agreed Operational and Service Level Agreements.
· Expertly configure network infrastructure, firewalls, switches and Azure environment.

About You
You will have the following key skills, attributes, education and experience:
· Extensive experience of working in a senior technical team in a complex organisation with an IT estate comprising of a significant number on premise and cloud servers. Knowledge and experience of installing and supporting server operating systems and hardware including VMWare ESXi in multi-site enterprise live environments.
· Comprehensive experience of managing live Microsoft Azure, networks, storage, security, backups, system troubleshooting and their lifecycle management.
· Ability to take initiative to own incidents from escalation to resolution seeking assistance from colleagues and suppliers to form effective matrix teams which the Systems Engineer leads.
· Skills in many of the following: working at an admin level with Microsoft 365 Admin Centre, Security, Compliance, Endpoint Manager, Azure AD, Exchange, SharePoint & Teams.
· Excellent cyber skills, always viewing infrastructure, incidents and projects from a security perspective, proactively minimising risks.
