Clinical Nurse Specialist (Burns Care Nurse Adviser)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Burns Care Nurse Advisor (BCNA) to support the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based education and training across primary and secondary care services.
The Burns Care Nurse Advisor is responsible for implementing and evaluating education relating to the management and referral of burn patients, ensuring practice aligns with National Burn Care Standards.
Main duties of the job
* Provide education to all referring services, including whom to refer, how to refer, and an education package for patients who do not require referral.
* Act as a resource for all referring agencies for education, support, and advice.
* Develop, coordinate, deliver and evaluate burns education programmes within the catchment area, concerning the initial management and referral of a patient with a burn injury.
* Facilitate two‑way communication and feedback between referring services and the burn service.
* Participate in audit work to meet the requirements of the National Burn Care Standards.
* Promote a consistent approach to the management of patients with a burn injury across NBCODN.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* RNC/RN8 degree or diploma level
* Current NMC registration
* Relevant post‑registration qualification as required for speciality
* Relevant mentorship or supervisor training
* Clinical skills and pathophysiology module, or willingness to undertake depending on the role within speciality
* Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate
Experience
* Experience of providing clinical advice in the specialist area.
* Experience of determining appropriate solutions to problems using different information sources.
* Experience of planning provision of care for patients.
* Mentoring experience with nursing students and teaching of junior colleagues.
* Experience of writing policies and procedures for different audiences.
Knowledge and Skills
* Knowledge of clinical governance activities, including audit, benchmarking and quality improvement.
* Ability to dynamically risk‑assess situations and respond appropriately.
* Ability to monitor and respond to changes in patient conditions effectively.
* Effective communication skills to provide guidance and education to patients.
* Ability to develop education and training programmes.
* Ability to build relationships for collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and external agencies.
* Skills in collecting and analysing data and using evidence‑based practice to improve patient outcomes.

£39,959 to £48,117 a year, dependent on experience.
